Things have been Dark in my neck of the woods. The library drama I wrote about a few months ago continues, with two of the library board members basically demanding they get to see every single purchased item/display plan/program topic/potential guest for the children's and YA departments. They also want to put children's books with queer content behind some kind of gate so kids can't be "exposed". Then one of my city council members said, "You know what this city needs? A resolution declaring us pro-life." It's been QUITE dramatic.

In times like these when I feel powerless to create lasting change, I like to remind myself that I am an ORGANIZER* and some of the best ways to promote progress and thoughtfulness is to promote books. Especially good books. Therefore: it's time for another Civic Engagement Giveaway!

This giveaway is for U.S. folks only (don't worry, international pals—we'll have other worldwide giveaways again sometime!). If you've ever wanted a hardcover set of the Court of Fives trilogy, signed by author Kate Elliott—this giveaway is for you!

All you have to do is hop over to this google form and do some light civics research. :)

*Please read this in the Evie Carnahan style of "I AM A LIBRARIAN."

Do board members not have something better to do with their time? Can you get them excited about a visiting genealogist or something?
