Cosplaying nonhuman characters that require prosthetics is tough—cosplaying nonhuman characters that require prosthetics that are pretty as a picture is even harder. I am in awe of the work done by cowbuttcrunchies to translate Ruto into reality, making the headpiece look flawless and giving us lashes for days. It truly is as if Ruto stepped out of the game and into reality.

I went back and forth on whether to put this in Sidetracks or Fanwork Rec, but eventually decided it belongs here. It's an edit of the entire movie The Wizard of Oz, but recut so that all the words are in alphabetical order—including the credits. Fun to watch the whole thing; even more fun to skip around and see the patterns of what words appear a lot. Some recommended words to look for: "witch", "wizard", "follow", "bears", and "arf" (to get your Toto fix).

What a gutting loss for all of us, even months later. This vid is such a gorgeous, honest, stunning tribute. I pretty sure everyone around me at the vid show was crying, but I can't be sure because I was definitely crying and couldn't see.

When one of your friends goes, "Hi, happy birthday, have 30k of fake boyfriends fic about your ship involving all of the politics, And by "pretty great" I mean I AM STILL SCREAMING, LOOK AT THIS BEAUTIFUL THING. It has dark secrets that are resolved in a sensible way rather than dragging out to torture me! It has scheming and politics and people looking after each other and fake dating and Paine and Nooj being the best friends anyone could ask for? And Yuna being a sensible human? And there's drama and kissing and basically I know it was written for me, but I'm still awed at how many of my favourite things are in this fic. ♥

This vid covers decades of Sherlock Holmes canon, covering films, video games, cartoons, tv series, web originals, book trailers... There is SO MUCH here, and it's so well put together. It doesn't feel rushed, and it manages to visually explore similarities across various iterations. Plus, the notes at the end are really thorough in talking about what the vidders found and how they found it, which is going to be of particular interest to anyone else who is interested in sources for all of those female/trans/non-binary Holmes and Watsons that show up.
