[ART] [Black Widow] Black Widow by
I'm sure there's properly art terminology here that I could use if I knew it, but wow, wow, wow, way to use three flat colors to the max. Gorgeous.
[ART] [Captain America] Natasha, Bucky, Steve, Sam by
The only problem I have with this art is that I don't think it has enough notes. :') I love the use of the flags! Really adorable.
[ART] [Captain America] Kiss on the forehead by
These assholes in bed together. The fabric! The expressions! The handholding. *lies down on floor*
[ART] [Captain America] holiday by
Have I really not recced this? Really? Really? As I said when I pushed this out and inflicted it on my Twitter followers, my love for these two assholes in bed together knows no bounds. It makes me a pile of goo on the floor. *squelches* (I really like the smoking alarm clock and Steve's hand on Bucky's back in the last panel.)
[ART] [Captain America] Steve/Peggy by
Yes, yes, I approve of this art. (Her hands around his dog tags, ommmmmg.)
[ART] [Captain America] Steve/Bucky by
If you need to brighten your day with super soldiers rolling around in bed together in their underwear, this is your stop. :D
[ART] [Captain America] Steve and Bucky by
Ah, the colors here are wonderful! There's so much I love about this piece: the lighting, all the relaxed shoulders, Bucky's hair. *flails* There's fic that goes with this, too!
[ART] [Captain America] Steve and Bucky by
This is emotionally devastating and really heartwarming all at the same time.
[ART] [Captain America] Bucky Barnes by
Ha ha hahahahaha no I didn't need that heart, it's really okay. I'm fine. I'm completely, 100% fine.
[ART] [Captain America] winter soldier & black widow by
Really effective use of black and red. Their fists glint! The movement of Natasha's pose is awesome, too. :D
[ART] [Captain America] Bucky by
Sometimes a piece of art will reach out and punch you in the solar plexus. This is one of those times. The lighting and Bucky's posture here make this crushingly painful. ;__;
[ART] [Captain America] Who the hell is Bucky? by
The texture of this is soft and lovely. His expression and posture are so thoughtful and well done. Gorgeous.
[ART] [Captain Marvel] Captain Marvel by
Although I haven't started reading the new Captain Marvel yet (Marvel NOW? whatever it is), there's suddenly been an abundance of Carol in my life! I love this piece, all fierce and determined smirking. Yessss.
[ART] [Captain Marvel] i felt nothing… and then… i felt everything. by
Sometimes the simplest pieces manage to really stick with you. So pretty!
[ART] [Guardians of the Galaxy] Baby Nebulas by
If you need to cheer up for any reason, can I interest you in some super cute baby Nebulas? I mean, you might see something cuter today of the non-baby animal variety, but I doubt it.
[ART] [The Last Unicorn] No unicorn was ever born who could regret by
The colors and use of space here are beautiful.
[ART] [Maleficent] "There is such thing as true love. Let me, and I’ll show you." by
I really didn't expect to have such strong feelings about this relationship, but after the film was over I found I really, really did. This is so pretty.
[ART] [Pacific Rim] Mako & Raleigh by
This is perfect.
[ART] [The Raven Cycle] Make way for the Raven King. by
THIS IS PURE DELIGHT. I gasped out loud when this came across my tumblr dash. All the little character details are perfect. Blue's hair clips! Ronan holding on to Adam's pants! Chainsaw! The plane! The keys hanging on a branch. weeping with love over the colors and the everything.
[ART] [Sailor Moon] Victorian Sailor Mercury by
This is what happens when people bunny Ira on tumblr; I (and everyone else) get to enjoy super cute art. Look how cute this is. I can't even pick a favorite part, but I do especially love the switch from visor to adorable goggles. :D
[META] [Captain America: The Winter Soldier] on steve rogers and suicide by
![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
One of the more popular readings of Steve Rogers in The Winter Soldier was that he was suffering from extreme depression and suicidal ideation. I can absolutely see where it comes from, but I've never been able to meld my own view of Steve with that interpretation (although I admit I am missing decades of comics canon). This essay aligns pretty well with what I think was happening with Steve in the film, especially at the end. The dropping of the shield seems to be the largest point of departure for different readings of the scene itself, and I think the way different people process that choice to drop the shield says a lot about the qualities they're projecting on Steve's Captain America persona — without, necessarily, taking into account Steve Rogers, the man we first meet in the MCU picking a fight with some mouthy asshole. Anyway, this is great! Definitely check it out.
[META] [Captain America: The Winter Soldier] Steve Rogers and History
Before The Winter Soldier came out, all we had to go on for how Steve was going to handle the future was Joss Whedon's characterization of him. Now, I loved The Avengers a lot, but I really thought Joss's characterization of everyone was a little on the shallow side. That may be the nature of having such a huge, ensemble cast and only two hours and some change to dig into the characters, but outside of Tony (and I can't tell whether that's Joss or Robert Downey, Jr.) and maybe Bruce and Natasha, the other characters were sort of just there. We get these notes, and especially in Steve's case, and taken with as a whole it's just a really confusing bunch of undecided noise. I spend a lot of time pretending that Steve's entire part in The Avengers as him being just out of the ice, alarmed, lonely, confused, and overwhelmed, and going with it. So it's fascinating now to watch the dominant narrative of Steve being challenged as we all fold his characterization from The Winter Soldier and his experience of the future into what we know about him. This conversation is pretty great. :D
