If you're intrigued by the premise, and/or a fan of Stephenson, it's definitely worth checking out.

I've not read any of Stephenson's work before. However, one of the reasons I signed up to vote in the Hugo Awards this year was to broaden my reading horizons. So I shall probably have a go (even if I don't get to it until after the deadline).
