Yes I totally see where you're coming from - hope the changes I made work better. I thought about it a lot and I do kind of feel like the book is using the way other people describe Seivarden's gender to push us to feel like her behaviour is a subversion. Not sure if that's another example of the book's use of non-binary to talk about binary gender expectations or if it's poking readers like me to whether we'll end up misgendering Seivarden because of outsider perception and interpreting her behaviour as a subversion. Book intention is hard.
