Thanks so much for dropping by with this information - it really helps my understanding. And I'm so excited to hear your opinion about the way the book classifies salsa as classical music because that seemed so odd to me. Good point about Dylan, because I can imagine him being accorded even greater respect in the future but never as a classical composer. If I remember rightly there's something in the book about the future having emerged after a sort of dark ages time where records may have been lost, but I didn't think that provided a strong enough explanation for whole swathes of cultural context to have changed (especially because the older generations in this book stick around for so long and so must inform the knowledge of the younger generations).
