Date: 2013-09-23 03:57 am (UTC)Words cannot express how happy I am that they didn't go the "strong female character who proves she's strong by out stronging all the men" route with Abbie. She is such a nuanced character. She's an authority figure who is used to getting the respect she deserves, and it shows. But as she gets to know Ichabod through the episode, she starts to see him as a person and not as a part of her job and their interactions are so much richer for the writers to have added that dimension.
Ichabod, in contrast, barely has a single moment in the episode where he has control over the scene, despite his sassy defense mechanisms. What a great role reversal.
Basically, I'm so glad you're forcing me to watch television this season, there are already great things happening.
