I haven't seen World War Z, but all the reviews I've read give me the same impression. The beauty of the book is that it was multi-cultural — many people telling their stories in their own voices. The movie erased them, replaced them with Generic White Dude, and was frankly not in the spirit of the book at all. There's being disappointed by the changes and then there's realizing the book you love had all the diverse, interesting, non-white and non-mainstream voices erased so a white dude could be a hero.
