Eek, I never saw this comment until now! #fail I'm so sorry! Thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughts, Amy - you make a bunch of great points. And about it being impossible to please everyone with a single character that belongs to an underrepresented group - yes, absolutely. I think part of the problem is exactly that there's such a burden on a small number of characters to stand in for a huge number of people who are, well, individuals and not all clones of each other - whereas if you're able-bodied/white/straight/etc you get a bunch of different characters and there's no pressure for a single one to be all things to all people. So: all the stories, please :P
