[ART] [Star Trek: Discovery] TITLE by [twitter.com profile] lorna_ka (Michael Burnham)

A great face study of Michael that captures Sonequa Martin-Green's way of making small but expressive faces.

[VID] [Hidden Figures] Rise Up by [archiveofourown.org profile] cosmic_llin (4:11) (Mary Jackson, Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan)

Equinox Based on Books vids are up & there are six Hidden Figures vids! Six vids for this beautiful film! They're all great but my fav right now has to be Rise Up. I cried a lot watching this (which is pretty much what I did during the film). It so beautifully captures the desire and determination of these three women, and their decision to carry other women with them. The use of the scene where the whole group of computers walk down the corridor is fantastic, but I think I like the inclusion of the scene where Mary Jackson touches the space capsule the best. The song is so simple and really underlines the emotion of this vid.

[VID] [Hidden Figures] Phenomenal Woman by [archiveofourown.org profile] odessie (2:32) (Mary Jackson, Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan)

Ahhhhhh Phenomenal Woman is also great! I LOVE the Katherine sections. Katherine doing maths with ease. Katherine pushing up her glasses with panache. Katherine just being boss. I also adore the section towards the end that brings all the women together. So many of these vids are great because they understand that Hidden Figures wasn't about isolated stories of exceptional women but about this collective of exceptional women who were always supporting each other. The use of the space shots to book-end the vid great too; particularly the one of the rocket at the start of the vid but I adore seeing Mary Jackson get emotional about John Glenn going into space too.

[VID] [Hidden Figures] You Got the Love by [archiveofourown.org profile] shinyjenni (2:48) (Mary Jackson, Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan)

Ok, final Hidden Figures vid rec - You Got the Love is amazing. I mean, of course it is because it's by shinyjenni. This vid is about friendship, community, work as fulfillment, and pushing on in the face of severe prejudice. And it takes an overused song and makes it mean something again (it's been a long time since I really connected with the lyrics of this song). Love, love, love.

[VID] [Pride & Prejudice 1995] Pray Be Silent, and Join Me in a Dance by [archiveofourown.org profile] theletterelle (3:04) (Elisabeth Bennett, Fitzwilliam Darcy, Caroline Bingley, George Wickham, Elisabeth Bennett/Fitzwilliam Darcy)

I am just in awe of the fact that someone made a Pride & Prejudice vid to a violin version of Shut Up and Dance With Me & it WORKS. It is a delightful surprise when you suddenly realise what song has been chosen, the beats are matched to the footage so nicely, and I love the way the story is matched to the lyrics as well. Darcy looking at Elisabeth set to 'I don't know how it happened' is perfection. Just, yeah, a really surprising, playful, and sweet vid that captures the story so well. And a secret Wickham fan, I enjoyed all the Wickham shots (particularly the comparison shot of him and a happy Kitty just before the shots of Elisabeth and Darcy's wedding).

[VID] [Sense and Sensibility 1995] Wherever We Are by [archiveofourown.org profile] silly_cleo (2:42) (Elinor Dashwood, Marianne Dashwood, Margaret Dashwood, Mrs Dashwood)

Such a tender vid focusing on the Dashwood women, and their relationships with each other. It's so nice and layered, leading you through a set of intricate relationships. And I enjoyed the section of shots towards the end that pick up on comparable moments that take place between all the different women.

[ART] [DRAMAtical Murder] the red oni by [tumblr.com profile] chirart (Koujaku) — The colours and silhouettes of this one are so ominous and appropriate for the story that it takes my breath away. I think the storytelling in this image is really well done!

[VID] [Hawkeye] Get Better by [livejournal.com profile] absternr (1:52) (Clint Barton, Kate Bishop, ensemble) — This is the most appropriate combination of song, theme and fandom I've seen in a while! I especially like the way that the vidder manages to get a sense of motion, despite working from a still source, and the choices of panels that the vidder used are perfect for the song. If you like comics Hawkeyes, definitely recommended.

[FIC] [Rogue One] A Single Monk in Good Standing Must Be In Want of a Bro by [archiveofourown.org profile] scaramouche (20,563 words) (Baze/Chirrut) — It turns out that what I really, really wanted from Rogue One fandom was slow-burn Baze/Chirrut fic with low-key pining (pining with minimal angst! Pining where at least one party is fine just... Having their feelings and not doing anything! This is a whole new avenue of slow-burn pining for me, I need more, please tell me y'all have recs.), cool worldbuilding for Jedha and the Guardians of the Whills, and Baze and Chirrut bouncing off each other in their different attitudes and approaches to the Force. I really enjoyed it. (PLUS it does the thing I love where it makes the non-POV characters' feelings really clear through their actions, despite being squarely in the POV of someone who is not necessarily noticing the significance. Especially the way that this fic handles reveals. *goes back to start to read it again*

What's with your subtitle?

It's a riff off an extremely obscure meme only Tom Hardy and Myspace fans will appreciate.
