I know she doesn't exactly write in this style, but have you considered Gail Simone? Whenever she takes over a series, the characters seem to get deeper, funnier and more human. I really enjoyed The Secret Six. But I mean, it's superheroes stuff, so I'm not sure if she'd be an appropriate addition.
