Yes, this is exactly why I'm worried about WSFS members reacting this way, because it's going to send the message to non-US Worldcon folks that actually the "World" part is just there for the vibes. This is separate from the question "are there fan groups outside the U.S. with the capacity to run a Worldcon?" because sometimes there isn't! That's the nature of a volunteer-run convention. It's going to depend on the a) the non-US bids that undertake a convention and b) WSFS members who join and support non-US bids. I really hope WSFS members (whoever they may be, because it changes) proves me wrong.
