1. “From Panic to Process: What Taking Criticism Actually Means”by Marissa Lingen is a lovely essay on how to respond to criticism as author when you are working on revising a piece and after it has been published. It’s clear eyed and compassionate.

2. “The public hearing process for new housing is broken. Here’s how to fix it.” is a good overview of the problems with the public hearing process in the US and some of the possible ways to fix it.

4. "The Librarians Are Not Okay" is based on a talk of the same name given by Anne Helen Peterson at an academic library conference; although clearly written for that audience, I suspect it will resonate with anyone who works in a so-called "passion profession" -- nurses, teachers, academics, most non-profit sector positions -- as well volunteers and activists. One of my favorite parts is the bit where Peterson talks about laying guardrails as opposed to boundaries. Personal boundaries take emotional labor to set and enforce; guardrails are organizational and cultural norms that keep the boundaries from being approached in the first place. Lots to think about in terms of how we can protect each other.

5. NPR culture critic Linda Holmes on whether there's too much original streaming content and if Netflix's recent troubles suggest that we've hit the peak.

6. If you haven't watched this video of a young Keanu Reeves covering a teddy bear convention for CBC, you need to watch this video of a young Keanu Reeves covering a teddy bear convention for CBC.
