Our Favourite Media of December 2019
Each month, we look back over the media we loved in the previous month, from books to film to video games and more.

Charlie's Angels — I already squealed about Charlie's Angels, but please let me squeal about it again! It wasn't perfect and the humour was a bit too close to my embarrassment squick at times, but I'm very here for a film about women kicking arse, foiling crime on an international level, and being friends while they do it!
Hex Vet Volume 2: The Flying Surgery by Sam Davies — Hex Vet continues to be cute! It's an all-ages graphic novel about two apprentice witches doing their internship at a magical vets, and in this volume they're left in charge of the vet surgery on the day that everyone with flying creatures comes for their appointments! The art is sometimes weirdly proportioned and I find the adult witches' insistence on picking the exact wrong people to deal with a problem to be quite frustrating. But the creature designs are good and I like the friendship the apprentices have and how much they care about creatures and people, so I'm still gonna recommend it for the warm fuzzies!
Nanette — Everyone who's seen Nanette warned me that it was going to be emotionally rough, but wow. Hannah Gadsby dissects stand-up humour and the way that reducing stories about your life to jokes means freezing them in time or cutting them off before a moment of trauma, and it's gutting. I don't know why it's billed as a comedy show, but it's fantastic and I respect her so much.
