Hey everyone! How was your weekend? Cool, cool, ours was pretty quiet except for this one thing:

Screencap of Dublin 2019 tweet announcing that Lady Business won a Hugo

WE WON A HUGO AWARD!

Ira and Susan represented us at Worldcon 77 in Dublin (we're not saying there's a connection, we're just saying that we're currently two for two on Ira and Susan going to Worldcons and us getting awards), and it was an honour and a pleasure to be there. Thank you to everyone who nominated or voted for us, and to everyone who has been part of Lady Business and our community!

We'd also like to thank Galactic Journey, Journey Planet, Nerds of a Feather, and Quick Sip Reviews. It was an honour to be in the same category as you all!

The text of our speech can be found below:

So we think it's safe to say that 2018 was a bit of a trash fire for all of us and most of the rest of the world. But despite that so many wonderful people kept creating incredible media, and it was a privilege to capslock about it with all of you. Or analyse it intelligently, whichever you prefer!

We'd like to thank our fellow editor KJ, and our founders Renay and Jodie, who I think are fighting with the livestream to watch us tonight.

So on behalf of all the editors of Lady Business, we would like to thank our YA correspondent, Jenny of Reading the End, and Anna ([personal profile] forestofglory), who is our correspondent for hopeful media, motherhood, and short fiction. We'd also like to thank Team Sparkle Rocket, the group who cheered us on and talked us down in equal measure. But most importantly, we'd like to thank our community on twitter and Dreamwidth, and everyone who nominated and/or voted for us. We love that this community actively supports a space, carved out by you and us and many others, including our fellow finalists, for longform intersectional feminist critique of speculative fiction. This is our home, and your home too, and we are proud to hold these conversations within it. Thank you. We appreciate you all.

Thank you, everyone, we are incredibly grateful for this award and your support. In return, please enjoy the "Hats" of Shame that Susan and Ira were given afterwards:
