[VID] [Ocean's 8] Bad Girls by [archiveofourown.org profile] elipie (03:42) (Debbie Ocean, Lou Miller, Nine Ball, Daphne Kluger, Tami, Amita, Constance, Rose Weil, Debbie Ocean/Lou Miller)

Festivids is live, and it has blessed us with FIVE Ocean's 8 fanvids! Bad Girls is my absolute favourite, and is just a straight up great ensemble celebration of women doing crimes.

[VID] [Ocean's 8] (Don't See) Too Many Rivals Now by [archiveofourown.org profile] flickerface (03:33) (Ensemble cast)

This video, set to a Dessa song, celebrates the Ocean's team for being in a class of their own, and emphasises the individual work, and teamwork, that went into pulling this whole heist off 'all in broad daylight'.

[VID] [Ocean's 8] I Know What I Am by [archiveofourown.org profile] mithborien (03:08) (Debbie Ocean, Lou Miller, Nine Ball, Daphne Kluger, Tami, Amita, Constance, Rose Weil)

I love that this each woman on the team gets a solo sequence in this vid, and the choice of song which has rock hard beats that the vid leans into.

[VID] [GLOW] Stir It Up by [archiveofourown.org profile] thingswithwings (03:33) (Ensemble Cast)

I also watched all three GLOW vids made for Festivids this year, and hand on heart they are all great. From its opening titles to its song choice, this vid is so deliciously 80s, and it's great to see a vidder give a cheeky nod to the time period of its source in their aesthetic choices. Stir It Up charts the development of the GLOW ladies from their rock bottom beginnings through to the confident stars they become.

[VID] [GLOW] Am I only dreaming? by [archiveofourown.org profile] thingswithwings (01.50) (Arthie Premkumar/Yolanda Rivas)

This vid is a tribute to the romance between Arthie and Yolanda! It intercuts the magical dance ballet between the two girls with other shots from their time together, and sets it all to Eternal Flame; possibly one of the most wonderfully over the top romantic 80s ballads of all time. It is a gem.

[VID] [GLOW] Champions by [archiveofourown.org profile] findmeinthealps (03:00) (Ensemble cast)

I admit, I thought setting a GLOW vid to We Are the Champions might be a bit much, but I was wrong, wrong, wrong, and it works so well. The vidder finds great clips to set to the downbeat lyrics in the verses, and then uses GLOW's commitment to making every match a huge costumed spectacle to really get the vid to sing as big as the song's chorus. I also really like that this vid doesn't choose to back Debbie or Ruth, but shows both of them getting screwed over (by life and by each other) and then both rising.

[VID] [MCU] Call Me Maybe by such heights (02:13) (Tony Stark, casts of Iron Man/Iron Man 2/Avengers)

Basically Tony/everybody through the end of the first Avengers, this cute and sweet vid set to Carly Rae Jepson's "Call Me Maybe" reminds me of a simpler time.

[ART] [Marvel] Captain Mesoamerica by (user name="mrjamesgiffords" (Captain America)

A re-imagining of the classic Marvel character inspired by Aztec and Mayan culture.

[META] [Mass Effect] Friendship essays: Thane Krios by [tumblr.com profile] ekjohnston (Thane Krios)

This (super-spoilery) meta about Thane, one of my favourite Mass Effect characters, and now it's raining on my face.

[ART] [Hamilton] the Schuyler Sisters! by [twitter.com profile] buckbeakbabie (Angelica, Eliza, and Peggy)

One of my friends knitted adorable dolls of the Schuyler sisters, and they are SO CUTE! Look at their dresses!

[ART] [Final Fantasy VIII] TITLE by [twitter.com profile] i_s_e_b (Squall/Rinoa)

Look at this sweet colourful piece of Squall and Rinoa actually being happy! (Especially those hands, those are great!)

What's with your subtitle?

It's a riff off an extremely obscure meme only Tom Hardy and Myspace fans will appreciate.
