[VID] [Mad Max: Fury Road] Lean On by Nelson Vicens (3:02) (Furiosa, Max)

I've been having a lot of fun checking out the vids from WisCon's 2018 Vid Party, and now I'm here to share some of my favs (that I haven't already chatted on about) with everyone.

First, a beautifully put together vid about cooperation and mutual dependence in the middle of an apocalyptic hellscape. This vid brings the sweet, significant partnership that grows between Max and Furiosa to the fore without minimising the film's intensely, deliberately weird, horror-filled aesthetic. It's a real skill to be able to mine a big political, artistic SFF film like this for its more personal themes, and to come up with a vid that still feels very connected to the source.

[VID] [Black Panther] Everyone's a hero in their own story by Metaheart Gaming (1:38) (Eric Killmonger)

A short, snappy, sexy vid all about Marvel's best bad villain. Love the totally cocky, confident music choice. Much like the film, this vid almost made me get behind Eric Killmonger.

[VID] [Star Wars: Rogue One] Sound off the Sirens by [archiveofourown.org profile] pollyrepeat (3:40) (Full cast)

This is a big action vid, which shows off the Resistance doing what it does best. The music is kickass, and I think the vidder made great use of the Darth Vader shots. Also, there's tons of Bodhi in this vid which, obviously, endears it to me. And, you've got to love that Jyn/Cassian Baze/Chirrut parallel shot at the end (I still ship it).

[VID] [Dr Who] If I Ever Leave This World Alive by [personal profile] purplefringe (dreamwidth itself) (3:24) (One, Twelve, Thirteen, Bill, Clara)

Well, if there was ever a vid to prove that I am not over Dr Who this is the one. It's sad, and it's joyful, and there is SO MUCH THIRTEEN in it. It also made me really care about the bond between One and Thirteen (so much more than the original episodes did). And of course is brought up all my feelings about Twelve and BIIIIIIILLLLLL. The music choice is wonderful, although not at all the kind of song I'd have expected to work with this show. It's such a lovely, lovely watch.

[VID] [Community] Nobody Move, Nobody Get Hurt by [personal profile] laurashapiro (dreamwidth itself) (2:42) (Abed/Troy)

A really high-energy vid for the Abed/Troy ship, which captures the whole wacky nature of this show. It's set to a great song by We Are Scientists that I totally forgotten about, and the lyrics 'the day you move I'm probably gonna explode' seem like the perfect tagline for Troy and Abed's relationship. Also, I did not realise how many shots of Donald Glover's guns this show had gifted us.

[VID] [The Good Place] Rainbowland by CREATOR (3:30) (Tahani Al-Jamil/Chidi Anagonye/Eleanor Shellstrop, Tahani Al-Jamil/Eleanor Shellstrop, Chidi Anagonye/Eleanor Shellstrop, Michael, Janet)

Finally, a super fun, ironic vid about the weird, nightmare land that is The Good Place, and the wonderful cast of characters living in it. There are tons of friendship shots, and a solid Tahani/Eleanor ship segment in there. It's a really cheery, good-hearted project, and I want to watch it like five more times.

[FIC] [Batman] Bad Publicity by [archiveofourown.org profile] unpretty (Image-heavy instead!) (Batman, Chris Hayes, Gotham's citizenry)

Bruce Wayne being the worst (or maybe best?) at twitter is EXCELLENT and makes me smile when I'm having a bad day. (Warning: there is Pepe the Frog imagery, because this fic was written before the alt-right co-opted it.)

[ART] [Overwatch] Hanzo by [deviantart.com profile] artgerm (Hanzo)

I don't play as Hanzo because I am Very Bad at Overwatch, but this is BEAUTIFUL. I love that the brushstrokes are visible, the details of the tattoo going over those muscles (did I mention the muscles?), and the style of the hair. It's so pretty.

[ART] [Studio Ghibli movies] TITLE by [profile] takumitoxin (All of Studio Ghibli)

Someone made a bunch of art nouveau-style posters for Studio Ghibli movies and they're great! I love the imagery chosen for each film, and the way they make such a beautiful unified set when you put them together!

What's with your subtitle?

It's a riff off an extremely obscure meme only Tom Hardy and Myspace fans will appreciate.
