Cuckoo's Egg in particular has some general similarities - human raised by aliens from a baby.

The martial arts in The Faded Sun trilogy also resonate a little, though I only read those once, quite a while before the Lowachee. Also, the ANGST of the very lonely protagonist in Merchanter's Luck.
