omg Jodie I wish I could explain it. Flow for me isn't even about whether the writing is "good" or "bad". Even if something has bad grammar, rookie writing mistakes (EPITHETS), or other problems, if the flow is good I can still read it just fine and even LOVE it. I don't know if this is rooted in the fact I grew up immersed in oral storytelling (by its nature often not concerned with grammar or rules) or if reading fanfic from a very young age taught me to look past the surface of writing for the ideas, but it's always been true. Not that the writing here is "bad" (whatever that means to people), because I really liked it, but the way the writing flowed from one idea to the next via Jos's fractured view of the world was just super good for me.
