At the end of some weeks, we gather at Lady Business HQ to share media thoughts and chat about the recent happenings in our tiny spheres of human experience. Feel free to join in, but note our comment policy if you're new! :D

As always, puns are welcome.

After a successful ~celebration~ of Kate Elliott, what's more fun to wrap things up than a fan cast bonanza of her books? NOTHING. Let's look at some attractive celebrities!

It's been awhile since I've read Spiritwalker, but Cat, Bee, & Andevai are still really strong impressions on me as characters.

I can already hear some people going, "Just admit it, Renay, you are Biased in favor of Nicole Beharie." I GUESS I AM. Maybe she skews a little too old for Cat? But I also think she would be perfect. And we know Beharie can do the physical stuff!

I'm really feeling Meagan Tandy for Bee, too!

Andevai is a lot harder because who can pull off that level of arrogance and self-importance without taking it over the top? IT SEEMS REALLY HARD. Possibilities on my card:

Dayo Okeniyi!

Stephan James!

Mehcad Brooks!

Dayo Okeniyi would make a great Andevai.

I'm not sure this is exactly the best fancast choice (especially since he's too old now), but for Rory I have always pictured Danny John-Jules, who played the Cat on Red Dwarf:

As Cat:

Yay chaturday!

I just finished reading Too Like The Lighting and it was a really intense read but I am not sure if I liked it. I should warn any of you thinking of reading it that it is only half of a book and stops right in the middle of the action.

For those of you who are interested in the potential WorldCon YA award we have a survey for name suggestions bit.ly/worldconya

I tried Too Like the Lightning and the language was like hitting a brick wall. I did NOT expect that at all and am still put off by it. :/ I really don't like that writing style so I have no clue if I'll be trying again, even after the sequel...maybe if someone lets me know if the duology sticks its landing? The ideas seem interesting, at least...

Unfortunately I think the stylized language is a big part of the author's project. If I read the next book I'll let you know what I think.

The style, yeah, is a little impenetrable and if you can't get into it there's not much point. Like I mentioned a while back on Twitter, the book is entirely the jam of a friend of mine's, in every respect, but for me I had to work at it.

It's worth it if you can learn to work with the style but.........

What's with your subtitle?

It's a riff off an extremely obscure meme only Tom Hardy and Myspace fans will appreciate.
