[ART] [Ghostbusters (2016)] Untitled by [tumblr.com profile] annermation
A fun, Dreamworks-esque (which makes sense, as this artist works on Dreamworks’ Dragons) poster of our four ladies ready to kick butt.

[COSPLAY] [Star Wars: The Force Awakens] The First Order of Fashion by Rose Ivy
The Her Universe Fashion Show at San Diego Comic Con lets designers compete for a chance to design a collection for Hot Topic. Three designers are selected—the Judges’ Winner, the Audience Winner, and the Comic-Con HQ Winner, which is voted on online. One entry blew me away, which is Rose Ivy’s riff on General Hux. The cape is perfect, the red motorcycle gloves are phenomenal, and the First Order insignia is cleverly cut into the collar of the top. Gorgeous!

You can see the other entries here and vote for the Comic-Con HQ Winner yourself! I know who I’m voting for.

[VID] [Star Wars: The Force Awakens] Star Wars: The Force Awakens || Glitter & Gold by Sonya C (2:14)
A film-spanning vid highlighting the sound effects of the film, especially in concert with Barns Courtney’s "Glitter and Gold." Impactful is the best way to describe this. Additionally, this song is now giving me all the Anakin and Kylo parallel feelings—"Do you walk in the shadow of men / Who sold their lives to a dream?" just encapsulates all of my conflicted feelings regarding the Jedi. But I particularly wanted to recommend this because it is inspired by…

[VID] [Hannibal] Hannibal || Glitter & Gold by voordeel (1:30)
This Hannibal vid. I’d argue it’s a hair more effective than the one above, but Hannibal has more source footage, being a television show, and also more strange visual effects, as a pretentious art film masquerading as a television show. It’s as dark and visceral as the show itself. I’m recommending these together, though, because I find the idea of fans being inspired by other fans to be such a key, curious, and lovely part of fandom.

[VID] [Wonder Woman] Holding Out For a Hero by [personal profile] chaila (2:26) (Wonder Woman)
In case you missed it, the Wonder Woman trailer dropped at San Diego Comic-Con last week. And within just a few days chaila had made this glorious, glorious vid using footage from said trailer and Batman vs. Superman. Vidding skills to the max! I especially like how the vid is all about Bruce Wayne desperately needing a hero, and Wonder Woman continually saving Batman plus being his white knight. And there were so many great snippets from B vs. S that I had forgotten and was charmingly reintroduced to in this vid. Diana sneaking behind Clark Kent. Diana straightening Bruce's bowtie. Wonder Woman's lip quirk when she's fighting. The footage match to 'the wind and the chill and the rain' is so apt as well. I just loooooooove it allllll.

[FIC] [DC's Legends of Tomorrow] Just Because by [archiveofourown.org profile] Blue_Cat (1,370 words) (Mick Rory/Leonard Snart)
So, yeah, this Coldwave fluff obsession of mine is still happening. Just a super, super cute fic about Mick slapping pet names on Leonard, and Leonard realising he likes it.

[FIC] [DC's Legends of Tomorrow] Food For Thought by [archiveofourown.org profile] Huntress69 (975 words) (Full cast, Mick Rory/Leonard Snart)
Funny, dialogue laden snippet about what would happen if the Legends stopped at a supermarket to restock the Waverider (short answer: chaos). I think it's a huge skill to be able to write humour, and this fic knows exactly how to use pace, situation and empty spaces to get its laughs.

[FIC] [DC's Legends of Tomorrow] Artistic Differences by [archiveofourown.org profile] nirejseki (2,021 words) (Mick Rory/Leonard Snart)
Where Mick is a firework artist plagued by an ice sculptor who keeps showing up at the same jobs as him. Then there's a misunderstanding about an upcoming marriage and I would like a romance novel about these two now please.

[FIC] [DC's Legends of Tomorrow] No Sugar Tonight in My Coffee by [archiveofourown.org profile] punk_rock_yuppie (4,312 words) (Mick Rory/Leonard Snart)
Coldwave coffee shop AU! Coffee shop AUs are pretty much my favourite setting for fluffy fanfic so I'm really excited to find one in this fandom. And this one is so adorable. There's a long running battle over coffee orders, suddenly revealed history between the characters and lots of feelings. What more could a reader ask for?

[FIC] [Ghostbusters (2006)] Housekeeping by [archiveofourown.org profile] Jude (1,302 words) (Abby, Erin, Holtzmann, Patty)
A fun gen story about the trials and tribulations of a small business setting up shop: complying with OSHA regulations, EPA standards, retirement benefits, etc.

[COMIC] [Dragon Age] Here Lies the Abyss (Carver) by [tumblr.com profile] stupid-fuqin-name (m!Hawke, Carver Hawke, Varric, f!Lavellan)
A heart-wrenching single-page comic that brings Carver Hawke into an AU of Dragon Age: Inquisition. I love the art, and the characterization works perfectly.

[ART] [Mass Effect] It's been a hell of a ride by [tumblr.com profile] geraltciri (Ensemble)
I wasn't sure what to put this under, but I think it's art? It's some of the most heartbreaking moments of the series represented in just text and colour, and it turns out that Mass Effect is in fact one of those franchises where the right quote will punch me in the guts all over again! I appreciate they're cryptic if you don't have the context, but I really like the way the creator managed to get across emotion just through typography and colour?

[FIC] [Madoka Magica] blood and chocolate by [archiveofourown.org profile] Baconfat (734 word count) (Sakura Kyoko, Miki Sayaka, Tomoe Mami)
With the full disclosure that Baco wrote this fic for me: this fic is amazing. Everyone involved is in character! Mami being her exceptionally polite but supremely competent and badass self! Sayaka trying so hard to keep up with Kyoko and also being a decent person! Kyoko! (I have many feelings about Kyoko being stubborn and wanting Sayaka to acknowledge her and wanting to fight Mami, and just -- Kyoko is one of my favourite characters and this felt very true to both her and how she interacts with everyone in canon.) (Plus, Baco put in one throwaway line about Homura that pins this story in time in a way that makes everything worse.)

[FIC] [Sherlock Holmes] Sub Rosa: A Correspondence By Wire by [livejournal.com profile] prof_pangaea (It's Complicated) (Sherlock Holmes, Mycroft Holmes)
This is SUPER IMAGE INTENSIVE but in favour of an excellent cause! It's a series of telegrams between Sherlock and Mycroft Holmes after the Reichenbach Falls, and I really quite love it? It is visually awesome - I'm sure other people mock up historical documents, but this is my favourite? Especially the contrast between how neat and terse the ones Mycroft receives are, and how loquacious and crumpled the ones Holmes receives are. The way they talk about things without actually talking about them, the degrees of snark and concern! The formatting works really well with it too. :D

What's with your subtitle?

It's a riff off an extremely obscure meme only Tom Hardy and Myspace fans will appreciate.
