Because we haven't quite managed to work out a way for us to consume ALL the entertainment yet: to keep us from emerging haggard and zombie like after regular all night box set marathons, book splurges and music overload we've set up this quarterly space where we can express our pure fannish glee at the fact that so many projects of awesome potential are continually being made. All of our past wants and desires can be found in the We Want It! tag.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Film

Star Wars: The Force Awakens on Blu-Ray/DVD/Digital — While everybody else seems to be gearing up for the next round of crying over Steve Rogers (STEEEEEEVE), I am still up to my eyeballs in Star Wars feels. I’ve even begun watching The Clone Wars, which I’ve been enjoying. Therefore, the only thing I desperately want in the next few weeks is to get my grubby mitts on the home release of The Force Awakens, so I can pour over the film itself and watch the deleted scenes and supplemental features over and over like it’s 2002 and I just opened my Extended Edition of The Fellowship of the Ring. It’s like Disney is getting me something for my birthday.

cover of Geminacover of To Shape the Darkcover of The Paper Menagerie

Books

Gemina by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff — I loved Illuminae and am stoked for the companion sequel, which will follow different characters and tell a story set on a place referenced in the first book. I only have to wait until October ha ha sob.

Borderline by Mishell Baker — There was a lot of buzz around this book recently when several people read it all at the same time and enthused about it on Twitter. Someone (I forget who) recced it to me directly saying I would love it so on the list it went. Six pals on goodreads have this at 4 and 5 stars. That hardly ever happens with brand new books! I'm intrigued, especially since the protagonist is disabled and everyone has been cheering that part of the book on.

To Shape the Dark edited by Athena Andreadis — I had a complicated relationship with the first anthology in this series, which ran smack into my anxieties about my ability to critically analyze media I don't understand well and led me down a shame spiral where if I failed to understand a story I assumed the failing was in my intelligence instead of the story. I ended up working my way through that and loving several of the stories in the anthology through sheer contrariness and determination. I'm excited about the follow up because some of the stories in the previous anthology became favorites and I'm hopeful it'll happen again. Plus Aliette de Bodard has a story there so that pretty much makes the decision for me!

The Paper Menagerie and Other Stories by Ken Liu — I am so excited for this collection I don't have words. Liu is one of my favorite short fiction writers. I cannot wait to put this in my eyeballs.

Film

Loving — I took a History of Sexuality in America class in college, bullying my way into the graduate course like the over-confident and cocky undergraduate I was. We covered the Loving's pretty in-depth and so I'm excited to see this!!! Also sign me up for everything Ruth Negga does, ever, even though the film will probably focus on white dude tears and sideline her and Mildred's part of the story, sigh.

Music

Pacific Coast EP — So The G from nerds of a feather has...released an album?? Of one of my favorite kinds of music?? Sort of out of nowhere for me?? Apparently this type of music is called "synthwave" which I didn't know. (I know very few of the Official Terms.) I liked a lot of songs that used heavy electronics for a long time, then my partner got me into dubstep, but I really fell in love with the easy beats of this type of mixing that don't necessarily assault you with bass and too much wubbing (although I love wubbing a whole lot), so I am excited to find the time to listen to this EP. :D

Television

The Ancient Magus's Bride — Okay, so I've been meaning to get The Ancient Magus' Bride manga for a while now, because the description sounded like a cross between Diana Wynne Jones and Robin McKinley to me? But now they're bringing out an anime, and it has Ryouta Takeuchi voicing the Magus (He voices Ren in DRAMAtical Murder – oh, and he can sing.) and a really neat art style, so I'm looking forward to it! ... I might even try to get round to the manga before the anime comes out. >_>

Games

Ace Attorney 6 — *bounces* NEW ACE ATTORNEY GAME, NEW ACE ATTORNEY GAME! ... Man, this means I need to get over my irrational hatred of Hobo!Nick and actually finish Apollo Justice. But NEW ACE ATTORNEY GAME!

Caligula — I've seen this described as a fusion of Sword Art Online and Persona, but I'm not going to lie? Based on the premise of "People are trapped by an external force to relive their high school years", it looks more like Persona does Angel Beats to me. I am intrigued by the idea of no one in the game being who they're presented as, and I am a fan of Persona style games, but I genuinely have no idea whether I'm going to like this.
