Thanks for the thoughtful review. I agree with you about the ending. I felt that the story, while it included the spiritual component, didn't really emphasize it. So I was disappointed when the ending went spiritual, just when it felt like there was a lot of human conflict (second generation on the planet, are we ever going back to Earth?, can we all get along? what about the innocent folks in the city? why save just ten of the old folks?) whose resolution I was much more invested in because I was invested in the living characters.
