I love Kate Elliott's writing. ♥ I started reading her with Cold Magic, which is a tad shorter than this book and focuses on younger women and their adventures/relationship, but Black Wolves is a good starting point, too! I always look at mainstream epic fantasy and Elliott's epic fantasy and go, "I am living in an alternate reality with the type of epic fantasy I like". I haven't been this excited about an epic fantasy since Red Seas Under Red Skies by Scott Lynch.
