I really liked His Majesty's Dragon a lot! The dragons are a huge part of the series, though, and only get more important as you go on. The first book is very easygoing and give a good intro to the world and I highly recommend it for the world building and social issue discussion alone, but unless you really love it and the type of language/drawn out battles/dragons/philoshophy, I probably wouldn't recommend the rest of the series. :)

(Two are, but one is Dune, so. I'LL GET THERE.)
