You're welcome! Although I continued to love the book despite my reservations, it's 100% understandable why you would let it drop (I am holding out hope that the sequel to this book is better, and have been told it can be read as a standalone novel, too). In mainstream epic fantasy this continues to happen, over and over and over, and I'm definitely a little weary of it. (Reading Karen Memory helped a little, but that's not epic fantasy.)
