At some point, some author whose blog I read wrote a pretty convincing post about why boycotting publishers hurts authors the most in the end. I have this idea that it was John Scalzi, but I can't find it, so maybe it was someone else. But it left a strong impression on me, and as a result I focus on buying more of what I want to see rather than supporting overall boycotts.

Change is slow, but it *is* happening -- that's the one encouraging thing to take away from Malinda Lo's mass of pie charts. As overall cultural attitudes change, so will publishing, even if both of those changes are happening more slowly than they ought to be.
