[VID] [The West Wing] What's Next by Lin-Manuel Miranda and Hrishikesh Hirway (1:27) (Cast)
Yes, THAT Lin-Manuel Miranda. He teamed up with Hirway, one of the hosts of the podcast West Wing Weekly to create the original music for this West Wing vid, featuring President Bartlet's catchphrase. Gorgeously done, even if you've never seen the show.
[ART] [Hidden Figures] Untitled by MsStellaBlu (Mary Jackson, Katherine Johnson, and Dorothy Vaughan)
Beautiful watercolor portraits of these three women as portrayed in the movie, as well as in real life.
[FIC] [Critical Role] The Curious Incident of Tarts and Tea, or Why You Should Never Follow the White Rabbit by vehir with art by silver-tongued-drake (Cast)
This mashup of Critical Role with Alice in Wonderland works brilliantly. I was sucked in by the artwork that inspired the story, a drawing that imagines Scanlan as the Cheshire Cat, and the rest flows from there.
[ART] [Ms. Marvel] Untitled by philnoto (Kamala Khan)
This art went around like wildfire and I expect to start seeing it on protest signs ASAP, because it's brilliant.
[ART] [Hidden Figures] Untitled by MsStellaBlu (Katherine, Mary, Dorothy)
I'm joining KJ in reccing this! This gorgeous set of artwork is fantastic, and invokes the attitude and brilliance of these women in beautiful colors. If you didn't click on it above, click now. I love it.
[ART] [Hidden Figures] Untitled by veronicamarche (Katherine Johnson)
A beautiful painting representing one of the iconic scenes of the film. I love all the blues in this and how centered Katherine is in the piece.
[ART] [Yuri!!! On Ice] Untitled by quelmdn (Ensemble)
This art made me laugh out loud. It's sketchy and full of movement, and then you get the black and white coda and it's perfect.
[ART] [Yuri!!! On Ice] whoops a daisy by hawberries_ (Yuri/Otabek Viktor)
Listen, this is a great comic, but the snapchat panel makes it PERFECT: Yuri's furious face, Viktor's expression, it's all wonderful.
[ART] [Marvel] Untitled by Suppiedoodles (Steve/Tony)
I love Suppie's art style and this cute little comic has so much vibrant color and humor. If you Steve/Tony heart has been hurting lately, Suppie's art will make you feel better, promise.
[VID] [Monstress] Control by garrideb (2:34) (Ensemble) (Canon levels of gore and body horror)
I think this is possibly the best song/fandom combo I have seen in ages, and the way this video is cut together really works, especially in the way that it lays panels out next to each other to tell its story and builds to the last panel.
[FIC] [The Magnificent Seven (2016)] Binary System Blues by 28ghosts (9,536 words) (Billy Rocks/Goodnight Robicheaux) (Slightly NSFW)
So, after I saw The Magnificent Seven remake I consulted the oracles of AO3, because all I wanted from this fandom was a pre-canon slow-burn Billy/Goodnight fic with all of the feelings. And the oracles came back with "Do you care if it's in space?"
So, yeah, my current favourite fic in this fandom is a space AU (that is technically a Cowboy Bebop fusion but you don't need to know anything about Cowboy Bebop to understand what's going on) with all of the feelings and fighting that I wanted. I really like the structure of it, and the way the relationship builds so slowly and cracks open at the end.
(Hat tip to bluemeridian for being the finest of fandom oracles!)
[ART] [DRAMAtical Murder] Aoba/Sly Blue by chirart (Sly Blue)
Aw man, Sly Blue. I love how clear it is that it's Sly Blue at the reins, not Aoba, the sense of motion and casual cruelty in his expression, and just — it has the tech-looking background of a Rhyme game, and I really enjoy the way it all seems to be curving around him and has such pretty unified colours! <3
