[ART] [DC] Wonder Woman 15 by [tumblr.com profile] mushroomtale-fanart (Wonder Woman)
I love palette memes, and this is an absolutely lovely and classical take on Wonder Woman. Her expression is great, and I am super impressed by all the fabric.

[ART] [Dragon Age: Inquisition] Inquisition Advisor Merrill by [tumblr.com profile] eristhenat (Merrill)
I mentioned in my DA:I review that I wished Merril or Velanna had been the Inquisition advisor on elfish matters, so I am always happy to see takes on that idea. This one is super well drawn, with great use of layers and a cute call-back to Merrill's yellow kerchief/scarf from DA2.

[ART] [Johnny Bravo/Samurai Jack] Johnny Bravo & Samurai Jack - Johnny/Jack by [tumblr.com profile] ponkuno (Johnny Bravo/Samurai Jack)
This is not a ship I would ever have thought of or expected to see, but the artist really makes it work, and it's super adorable. The fashion's great too!

[COSPLAY] [DC] Panterona Cosplay (Trinidad and Tobago) as Wonder Woman by Panterona Cosplay (Wonder Woman)
An awesome Wonder Woman cosplay, with great detailing and neat use of texture, worn by a lovely cosplayer of colour. Definitely worth a look!

[VID] [DC's Legends of Tomorrow] Over and over by trianglewithline (2:32) (Leonard Snart/Mick Rory)
New ship alert — I am crushing on Coldwave in a big way right now. For those of you who don't know, Coldwave is the smush name for a minor slash ship from DC's Legends of Tomorrow. It involves the juvie buddy and criminal co-worker partnership of Leonard Snart (aka Captain Cold) and Mick Rory (aka Heatwave), who are played by Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell. Fun fact - Miller and Purcell previously played criminal brothers in Prison Break — a casting "coincidence" that makes me very happy.

Anyway, I think I've watched all of the Coldwave fanvids available (and some vids about Heatwave & Cold's friendship) many, many time now, and I have some favourites I'd like to share. Please assume all these vids have spoilers for the first series. First up, a real shippy one. There's a lot of eyeing and quite a bit of head tilting in here. Aside from the romance, I really like that this vid opens from Rory's perspective and then switches to Snart's perspective. I'm finding lots of vids tend to largely concentrate on Snart. While I love Snart (who can resist a snarky criminal mastermind, after all) I think Rory is just as interesting, and it's the idea of the two as a team that really makes their storyline sing.

[VID] [DC Legends of Tomorrow, The Flash] Partners in Crime by Artemis Theologiti (3:05) (Leonard Snart, Mick Rory)
This vid is so much fun and I absolutely adore the song choice. A solid poppy vid about master criminals getting their own way (with a little bit of added Snart emotional family turmoil).

[VID] [DC's Legends of Tomorrow] Now and Then by Panic! Of a Fangirl (3:27) (Leonard Snart/Mick Rory)
Oh, gaaaawd! Vids to Fall Out Boy songs are my not so secret weakness because their music is just so ridiculous and enjoyable. They have such a fun way with a turn of phrase, and no shame about wallowing in romantic imagery. So this vid is just a big angst-fest about a breakup, and at the same time a walk through why the relationship was so wonderful in the first place.

[VID] [DC's Legends of Tomorrow] Cold & Heat by Phynali (3:16) (Leonard Snart & Mick Rory)
This is perhaps my favourite vid for the Legends fandom so far. I think the song is matched to the shots really well; even though at first glance the song's verses might not seem to have much to do with Legends of Tomorrow the vidder makes something really special and connected out of them. The way the vid follows Leonard and Mick's relationship gives the vid a strong backbone narrative. And I like the choice to shape the references to 'demons' around Leonard's visit to his father's past.

[VID] [Once Upon a Time] I'm a believer by su Index (2:59) (Regina Mills/Emma Swann)
Probably enough Coldwave for now, right? Let's move on (until the next episode of Fanwork Recs at least). While playing the 'one like = one ship' meme on Twitter I slipped and fell back into one of my oldest and dearest ships via this video which I had somehow never seen before. I've found that there's a high proportion of angsty SwanQueen vids around so it was nice to find something so cute and upbeat as a contrast. Great use of Emma's intense face + Regina's smiles.

[VID] [Once Upon a Time] True Love by Anoel (3:56) (Regina Mills/Emma Swann)
I think I'm obsessed with this song now. It kind of sums up a lot of my approach to shipping: 'Oh, you say these characters have strong hateful feelings towards each other? Hm…' I am even more obsessed with Emma's tank top and chainsaw moment. Thanks for reminding me about that, vidder :) The romance section of this vid is really cute too (Regina being predictably terrible at it). And it's great that the vid uses text at the beginning and end to re-write Once Upon a Time in a very definite way (saviour and villain together 4eva).

[VID] [The Musketeers (BBC 2014)] Popular Table by Franzeska (3:00) (D'Artagnan, Athos/D'Artagnan)
In the notes for this vid it says the vidder 'intended it to be over-the-top and earnest yet ridiculous, much like D'Artagnan' which I think is just the most genius interpretation of D'Artagnan. This vid is one big affectionate sigh about his need to be recognised by the Musketeers (particularly Athos) and his determination to dance fight his way into their hearts. That D'Artagnan; such a try-hard but an adorable one with great hair. Why is this show getting cancelled again?

[ART] [A Darker Shade of Magic] Untitled by [tumblr.com profile] squidwithelbows (Kell)
This art is REALLY COOL! The background is neat, Kell's face is great, but LOOK AT THE COATS. I have only just started this book, I've only just met the marvellous coat, but LOOK AT HOW WELL IT'S REPRESENTED HERE. I like how all of the styles of are similar, but so recognisably different? Plus the fact that the smoky details carry over every change of coat really makes me happy. <3

[ART] [Uncharted] Speedpaint of Elena and Chloe by [tumblr.com profile] avali (Chloe Fraser, Elena Fisher)
Chloe and Elena are two of my favourite characters in Uncharted, and this art of them is amazing. The colours are really vibrant, and the lighting practically makes them glow! The expressions are great, and really gives it the feel of a quiet, intimate moment, which is always what I want for these two. It's really beautiful.

[FIC] [Hamilton] Notes Concerning Certain Performances of Hamilton by [tumblr.com profile] scioscribe (2,747 words) (Ensemble; vague Hamilton/Eliza, Hamilton/Laurens and Peggy/Maria)
Okay, I usually avoid "The characters are performing the source material!" fic like the plague, but this is really good? It focuses on the transformative effect of stepping into the shoes of your friends – your family – your enemies – and how this can affect people. The sections with Angelica and Eliza are my favourites, because getting to see them take on these other roles is excellent, especially when they are so delighted in each other even when they're not being themselves?

The sunlight effects in the "Speedpaint of Eliza and Chloe" are amazing! Thomas Kinkade, eat your heart out -- here's an artist who really understands light.
