Hello, friends!

As you may know, we added new editors to our ranks last week. We're excited about the perspectives they're going to bring to the project, but it will mean some changes in how we'd like other reviewers, bloggers, publishers, and the media to refer to us.

One of our new editors, Ira, is genderqueer. They don't identify as a woman. Ira's pronouns are they/them.

Lady Business was founded by three women and we have always been explicitly gendered. Plus, our title has "Lady" in it, so it's easy to assume that all our writers identify as women. There's been no reason in the past for us to correct this assumption. However, in the last week we've seen a lot of people refer to us as "the women of Lady Business" and other similar constructions. Since adding a genderqueer editor to the team, though, this reference to us a body of women writers is no longer accurate, and is actively misgendering our team member. We apologize to Ira and to our community for not making this more explicit when we added new editors to the team.

When you refer to us collectively from this point forward, we would prefer you use "Lady Business" as a group noun, "the writers at Lady Business", or another gender neutral phrase to encompass us as a body of writers. Thank you for helping us make our community welcoming for one of our new editors.

Best,
Renay & Jodie

What's with your subtitle?

It's a riff off an extremely obscure meme only Tom Hardy and Myspace fans will appreciate.
